Support Rotary Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund

If you would like to help Kutztown Rotary raise funds for Hurricane Harvey Relief, send your tax-deductible donation to "Kutztown Rotary Charitable Foundation" with a memo, "Hurricane Harvey". Send this donation to

Kutztown Rotary Charitable Foundation

Kutztown, PA 19530

Kutztown Rotary is collecting funds to assist Rotary efforts in the disaster zone. Rotary clubs along the Gulf Coast of Texas and Louisiana, USA, are collecting emergency relief funds to help flood victims of Hurricane Harvey, which slammed into southeast Texas over the weekend.

Severe rainfall has caused historic flooding along the Texas coast, including in Houston, the fourth largest city by population in the United States. Deluged towns in the region are in desperate need of aid as thousands of residents were forced to flee their homes. About 6.8 million people have been affected by the hurricane, which made landfall on 25 August. "We know that a disaster of this magnitude will require our financial assistance for months into the future," says District 5930 Governor Betty Ramirez-Lara. "Our disaster relief committee will provide support where we believe it can best be used."

Sunday, Sept. 17: Picking for Potato Project

The Rotary Clubs of Area 3 have signed up to harvest potatoes on Sunday, September 17, 2017, from 1:00 to 5:00 PM at Becker's St. Peter's Church at 265 Maidencreek Road, Fleetwood (Richmond Township), PA. (Molltown atop the hill at the white stone church)

We will be picking potatoes to be donated to local food banks. All community members & families are welcome to join us for a fun day volunteering! The Potato Project is volunteers like yourself, coming together to plant, tend, harvest and help provide food to neighbors finding themselves in need.

This is the field where we picked last fall, except that it has been tilled for 3.5 acres instead of 1 acre.

Please calendar this event today. Bring family, friends, neighbors. The more the merrier.

Red Cross

Sept. 20: Tri-County Red Cross

The American Red Cross Tri-County Chapter provides programs and services to more than one million residents in Berks, Chester and Schuylkill counties. We are part of the Eastern Pennsylvania Region of the Red Cross.

The Chapter provides food and shelter in emergency and disaster-related situations, assists members of our armed forces and their families, teaches lifesaving skills and so much more. Each year, the chapter partners with WFMZ Channel 69 News to recognize local heroes at our Heroes Breakfast Awards ceremony.

Sept. 27: Fun Night at Snuzzles

Snuzzles is basically a pizza shop out in the country. If you're not familiar with the area you might need a map. What's not so basic ... is everything. The decor, everything is red oak, the tables, the custom bar stools, the bars, even the walls. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, almost familiar, the fireplaces add an unexpected ambiance. The menu is unique, the steak sandwiches and hoagies are definitely "Philly" and the rest is definitely Snuzzles. Warning: it doesn't have a sign. Coming up the hill from Lyons to Dryville, pull into the large gravel parking lot on the right before you reach Dryville and hope you can find a parking place.

Oct. 4: Student of The Month

Each month the Kutztown Rotary Club recognizes one outstanding student each from Kutztown Area High School and Brandywine Heights Area High School. These students are selected by their school administrators and are often picked for significant improvement or overcoming challenges, accomplishments in academics, school participation, and community contributions. These students never fail to impress Rotarians with their positive impact on our community. Their parents and representatives from the school are always welcome.
