StrategicApr. 18: Strategic Plan Results

Rotary clubs are encouraged to develop a strategic plan to provide the framework to guide their goals and service work in the community. The strategic plan defines who they are as a club and help to focus their service in both the local and international communities. Strategic planning involves creating a vision, with supporting goals that can be regularly measured and adjusted as needed.

May 16: Barry Kauffman - Berks Women of WWI

"Berk's Unsung Heroines... The Women of World War I"

This talk is to tell the story of four young women from Berks County - Eleanor Cassidy, Marie Hidell, Mary Scheirer and Mary Catherine Stevens - who volunteered to serve their county as nurses during World War I. In addition to talking about the lives of the four women, Kauffman will discuss how he discovered them and learned their stories. and how their forgotten contribution was uncovered. It is the only documented instance of local female residents paying the supreme sacrifice in wartime.
Barry Kauffman is an 8th Generation Berks County resident. He is a Trustee of the Berks History Center, past President of the local Sons of the American Revolution chapter, and Executive Director of the Society for the Preservation of the Gruber Wagon Works. He has authored over a dozen articles for the Historical Review of Berks County and will soon be publishing a book about the founders of the Wyomissing Industries.

Tuesday, June 12, Kutztown Rotary Ushers at Flag Day at 7 pm

Flag Day Concert: Tuesday, June 12, 2018 @ 7:30 PM in the Bandshell at Kutztown Park.

We arrive at 7 pm so we can hand out programs as people arrive.

Each year our club volunteers to usher at the Flag Day Concert and on Kutztown Day. This involves handing out programs and "passing the hat" for donations to defray the costs of the events. On Flag Day, the entertainment is provided by the Kutztown Community Choir. On Kutztown Day, we usher when the Allentown Band performs. Also check with Bob Hobaugh for Raffle Tickets for Kutztown Day for yourself and friends.
