June 28 - This evening we met at Camp Edmar for our annual installation banquet. Jim Springer was installed as our Pres. for 2006/07. Let's all get behind Jim during his year and share in his enthusiasm for Rotary. Let's have a great Rotary year!

Other officers installed included:
Pres. Elect - Amy Howard
Director - John Cusatis
Director - Barry Martin
Secretary - Steve Henning
Treasurer - Dennis Lutz
Director-at-large - Bill Bender
Director-at-large - Nancy Hildenbrand
Sergeant-at-arms - Patt McCloskey

After the dinner, we adjourned to Jim's place of business (Dunkelberger's Jewelers) where Jane served as the mixologist and we enjoyed dessert.

Patt received her Past Pres. pin. We Thank Patt for a successful year as Pres. and we also thank her for the watercolor paintings that she did for all of those Rotarians who were present.

July 5 - Guests this evening included Phil Brinenstiehl from Riverside, Ca. His Club has fifty members, nine of them women. Also a guest was Florita Hobaugh and Celso our exchange student from Brazil bid us farewell. He left for home on July 8. He is a most delightful young man and we will miss his winning smile and upbeat personality.

Bob Hobaugh introduced the speakers for the evening, Rev. Dianne Kareha and John Kotsatos. Rev. Kareha is the Chaplain at Luther Crest Retirement Community. Mr. Kotsatos is the Mgr. of Sales and Marketing at Luther Crest and Southgate.

Rev. Kareha and Mr. Kotsatos spoke about retirement living options offered by Diakon and the new Southgate facility at Luther Crest. These retirement communities are for individuals 55 or older. The facilities offer medical care, assisted living, a fitness centers, hobby and activities rooms, a billiard room, a woodworking shop, a library and computer lab, and all outdoor maintenance when you chose to purchase a stand-alone unit.
Many plans include housekeeping, utilities, including cable television, eight meals per month at various venues, property and casualty insurance for your home's exterior and priority access to assisted living and nursing care.

The duo provided information about the new Southgate facility which is now accepting memberships including floor plans of the six new facility layouts. It's comforting to know that there is a place to live for us “old” folks.

July 12 - Amy Howard, Scholarship Chair, explained some of the criteria utilized to select the recipients. Amy introduced the recipients of our Rotary Scholarships.
